The elite personal training staff at this boutique fitness club offer a highly personalized training experience regardless of where you’re at in your fitness journey. This might be the most unique workout on the list. Pure Barre offers 45-50 minute workouts which include low impact, isometric movements that are designed to produce results. You might be surprised how these simple movements, many at a ballet barre, can make you feel the burn!

This is a great workout for anyone but can be an especially great option for someone who has physical restrictions based on health or an injury.

While the classes will all have some of the same technique, you will find class options that add a focus area, like resistance training or cardio.

8. Orangetheory Fitness

via Yelp

I can’t sum it up better than their website, so here it is: at Orangetheory Fitness, find “inspirational coaches, mind-blowing science, and cutting-edge technology”.

This is truly a workout unlike any other. The one-hour sessions are guided by a fitness coach, and results are tracked using a heart-rate monitor. The workout varies daily, and each person is encouraged to go at his or her own pace (the coach will help by personalizing the workout to meet your needs).

The science behind Orangetheory encourages 12 minutes in the “orange zone”, which is 84-91% of your maximum heart rate. Interesting stuff!

Fees: $69 – 4 classes/month, $109 – 8 classes/month, $169 – unlimited. First session is free.

After researching and visiting these Park Ridge gyms, I’ve realized that my basement workouts are sort of lame. But, with many of these locations offering a free class or more, I might as well try them all.

Good luck finding your Park Ridge fitness fit!
